Photograph of the barges, Takhini and Generc loaded with U.S. Army equipment such as trucks and jeeps are tied at the docks at Dawson. The view includes the cable ferry, the firehall, bank and the Yukon River looking upstream. The photos 1992.7.1-9 record some transportation methods used for Alaska Highway construction. The equipment is being shipped by sternwheeler from Whitehorse through Dawson to Circle Alaska, then via the Steese Highway to Fairbanks, the northern terminus of the highway.
