A close, out of focus view of the stern paddle on the sternwheeler “Aksala” on the Yukon River. The Aksala was first named the Alaska, at 642 tons, it was built in Whitehorse in 1913 by the American Yukon Navigation Company. It was transferred to Canadian register and renamed the Aksala. It operated for the British Yukon Navigation Company until 1952. It now sits at mile 913 on the Alaska highway and at one time was a dining lounge.
