Front Street during Flood of May 1979
Photograph of Yukon River flood of May 1979. View from Front Street just south of Queen Street, behind the Klondike Nugget Shop. Two unidentified children on makeshift raft. The wheelhouse of the Nasutlin is floating upside-down behind a garage. It was previously part of a mini-museum set up in the yard beside the Klondike Nugget Shop.
Far right is the pilot house of the steam Nasutlin. George Shaw placed it in his park in front of his store. In 1962, during the Gold Festival it served as the Visitor’s Centre, manned by Archibald McCuish, a gracious old-timer. Source: Star Jones
