Fire at St. Mary’s Hospital, January 10, 1950.
This is part of a series of photos showing the burning of St. Mary’s Hospital at the north-end of town. The fire happened on January 10, 1950 and the temperature was -40C. (1998.35.33 to 1998.35.37) One of the nurses died in the fire. Everyone else was rescued. Bill Bushell’s recollection of the fire is on page 10 of the Klondike Sun – Thursday July 24, 1997 edition.
